Snap Spell

A dictation round with your own words

Hear a word, type the spelling, then check it

Use the spelling words you already have for one simple dictation round: hear a word, type the spelling, then check it in the same list.

Snap Spell

Can I practise spelling dictation with my own word list?

Yes. Start with your prepared list, then use Solo Test to hear each word and type the spelling. This is a short dictation round using the words you already have.

Bring the existing words into one checked list

The words can begin on paper, in an image, in copied text, or as words you type. Review the list before saving so the dictation round uses the words you actually intend to practise.

Hear, type, and check

Solo Test is the current mode for this sequence. Snap Spell reads the word, and the learner types the spelling for the app to check.

  1. 1 Open the spelling list you have already prepared.
  2. 2 Choose Solo Test and listen to the word.
  3. 3 Type the spelling, check it, then decide which words you want to practise again.

Choose paper when paper is the better answer

If you want to write a word on paper, Practice Together lets one person play the word while the learner writes.

Solo Test

Hear the word and type the spelling for the app to check.

Practice Together

One person plays the word while the learner spells aloud or on paper.

Return to the list

Use the current word status to choose what you want to practise next.

Keep the dictation round focused

The sequence here is a prepared list, the word read aloud, and a typed spelling checked in Solo Test. Use the paper option above when you want a shared written round.
