VerseLume Privacy Policy
Last updated: 18 October 2026At a glance
- You can read, search, listen, highlight, take notes and save passages without an account. That study data stays on your device.
- Sign in with Apple is optional and syncs your study data across your devices.
- Every feature is free. VerseLume has no ads, does not track you across other companies’ apps or websites, and does not sell your personal information.
- You can delete your account and the data on our servers at any time inside the app.
Study data on your device
Your reading positions, reading preferences, bookmarks, highlights, notes, saved excerpts and recent searches are stored in the app on your device. If you do not sign in, this study data stays on your device and is not uploaded.
Account and sign-in
If you sign in with Apple, Google Firebase Authentication receives an Apple user identifier and the email address Apple shares, which can be a private relay address if you choose Hide My Email. VerseLume asks Apple only for your name. You can add a display name of up to 40 characters and pick an avatar.
Synced data
When you sign in with Apple, your bookmarks, highlights, notes, saved excerpts, reading positions and preferences are stored in Google Cloud Firestore under your account so they can sync. Only your signed-in account can read them.
Feedback and support
When you use Send Feedback, we receive your message, the type of feedback, the email address you choose to add, your app version, system version, device model and language, together with your account ID, or a random ID created for sending feedback if you have not signed in. When you email us, we receive the information you choose to send. We use this only to answer you and to improve VerseLume.
Usage data and crash reports
VerseLume uses Google Firebase Analytics to count which features are used, such as reading, searching or listening, together with an app-instance identifier. These counts never include your notes, highlights, searches or email. You can turn them off at any time in Settings › Privacy › Share Usage Data.
Firebase Crashlytics receives crash reports with technical details such as the device model, system version and where the crash happened, so we can fix problems.
Support payments
If you choose to support VerseLume, Apple processes the payment through your Apple Account and we never receive your payment card details. VerseLume uses RevenueCat to complete the purchase and record it, using an app user ID rather than your name or email. VerseLume uses no third-party AI services and no advertising networks.
Security
Connections to our services are encrypted. Our server accepts requests only from genuine copies of the app, verified with Apple App Attest and Firebase App Check. Our server logs record technical events and counts, not the text of your notes or feedback.
How we use information
- to provide reading, sync and your account;
- to keep the service secure;
- to answer support requests and feedback;
- to understand which features help people and fix crashes.
Who we share it with
We share information only with the service providers that run VerseLume for us, and only for the purposes above. Each one is bound by its terms to protect the data at least as well as this policy describes:
- Google (Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Run, App Check, Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics) for hosting, sign-in, sync, security, usage counts and crash reports;
- RevenueCat for support payments;
- Apple for Sign in with Apple, App Attest and payments.
How long we keep it
- Account and synced data: until you delete them or delete your account.
- Feedback: up to 12 months, then deleted.
- Support payment records held by RevenueCat and Apple: under their own retention policies.
- Data on your device: until you delete it in the app or delete the app.
Your choices and deleting your data
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your personal information, to object to or restrict processing, and to complain to your local data protection authority. Email us and we will respond within 30 days.
- Use VerseLume without an account, or sign in with Apple only if you want sync.
- Delete local reading data in Settings › Account & Data.
- Delete your account in Settings › Account & Data › Delete Account. We revoke your Apple sign-in and delete your account and synced data from our servers and from the device.
- Turn off usage data in Settings › Privacy › Share Usage Data.
- Email us to access or correct your information, or to ask us to delete your feedback or your RevenueCat record.
Where data is stored
VerseLume’s online services run on Google Cloud. Your information may therefore be processed in the United States and other countries outside your own, with the protections described in this policy.
Children
VerseLume is a Bible reader for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal information, email us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
When VerseLume changes how it handles information, we update this page before the change reaches the app and change the date at the top. For significant changes we will also tell you in the app.
